Annual Events

These are all part of the regular event line up at the church:

Easter Bonfire and Services

At dawn on Easter Day an Easter Bonfire is lit to mark the resurrection. This is followed by the renewal of baptismal vows at the medieval church, Holy Communion in Saint Andrews and a parish breakfast in the narthex. The 9:30 Easter Morning Service includes an easter egg hunt for the children.

Remembrance Day Parade and Service

A service is held on the national day of remembrance in November and is preceeded by a parade of ex-service men and local people ending at the war memorial outside the church where the wreaths are laid. The memorial bears 65 names of local men who gave their lives in the two wars. For information on some of the men mentioned on this memorial See WW1 Remembered

Harvest Festival Service

The end of September brings the traditional Harvest Festival Service which immediately follows a procession to the church led by a tractor and trailer laden with produce. The church is of course seasonally decorated. All the produce is donated to local charities.

Harvest Supper

This popular event is held in the Memorial Hall each year on a Friday evening near to Harvest Festival. The supper is usually a sell-out, with a 100 plus people attending the buffet meal. The entertainment this year was a quiz which most people found quite difficult! The proceeds of the raffle will go to the Disasters' Emergency Fund.
